Optima Inc.— the development and architectural firm known for its upscale multifamily developments in Scottsdale has started construction on its latest project next to Kierland Commmons and Scottsdale Road.
The Optima Kierland project is starting its first phase of construction on a 12-story, 220-unit condominium building and a 10-story, 155-unit apartment complex. “It’s going to be super high-end,” said Optima Vice President
The multifamily development is located on the west side of Scottsdale Road just north of the popular Kierland Commons shopping center. That puts the 9.5-acre development in the city of Phoenix.
Optima already has two developments in Old Town Scottsdale. The Optima Camelview development are condos while Optima Sonoran Village are luxury apartments.
Hovey, a vice president with the family-owned business and a lead architect and designer of Optima’s unique developments, said he is looking to incorporate and improve on some of the design elements and amenities at the Old Town
developments with the new project. That includes having full-service fitness centers, rooftop pools, saunas and a media center.
“Each of the buildings can stand on its own,” Hovey said. It also allows for phases of financing for the project.
The Kierland buildings’ rooftop pools will have elevated, negative-edge pool decks that Hovey says will eliminate the need for view obstructing railings.
Condo units can range between 720 square feet and 4,550 square feet with prices starting in the $400,000s.
Sales start on April 16 with an official groundbreaking in September. Construction will take two years.
Hovey said he’s opening to combining condo units if buyers are seeking larger blocks of space. He said he’s also seeing interest from affluent homeowners in North Scottsdale looking to trade desert landscapes and golf course for Scottsdale
Road restaurants, shopping and other amenities.
Optima’s Kierland development will also have trademark landscaping built into its building’s balconies. There are two other buildings planned.
